Instagram NFTs are finally here, and they’re on Facebook too 👀

With all these big players entering the NFT space recently, I forget we’re in bear territory 🐻📉

Meta’s move to integrate NFTs on their platforms is huge. If mum didn’t know what NFTs or “collectables” were, she’s about to find out...

This is the first time a dominant social network has made a meaningful step towards displaying your personal NFT collection. Twitter attempted this with Twitter Blue, but let's be real – no one subscribes 😆. With Meta, your NFT will show up as a normal post on both the Instagram & Facebook platforms. It will also have a badge that identifies the JPEG as a digital collectable.

OptiFi shuts itself down

OptiFi, a Solana decentralized exchange (DEX), accidentally closed it’s protocol 😳

WTF? It only took one line of code to shut everything down and lock up funds, and they had just launched August 8.

What went down:

  • Dev goes to upgrade the OptiFi program

  • Dev accidentally uses the Solana close program command

  • Program on mainnet was closed

  • $661K USDC gets locked up

  • OptiFi will compensate all users’ funds and settle open positions

  • Team apologizes and tells us how they will prevent this in the future

Interestingly, comments were very supportive due to the team's extreme transparency and dedication to make things right. I have no doubt that they’ll return stronger than before 💜
