Oh wait, Solana is up again?

Solana's first dog coin, Azuki IPs, and a Bitcoin-themed bar in NYC

GM Baos,

Who’s sticking to their New Year’s Resolutions? It's day 4 and I've already missed mine... 🤭

Today we cover:

  • Why $SOL pumped double digits

  • Azuki#6918 copyright

  • A Bitcoin themed bar in NYC

Why is $SOL pumping?

What happened to $SOL?! One day it's sub $10, then the next thing I know it's up over 50% 🤯

Besides the mean reversion of a coin that everyone is shorting, let's go over two catalysts $SOL had over the last week…

1) Vitalik tweeted something positive about Solana. Everyone was talking about how funny it would be if he happened to mark the bottom for $SOL. Do y’all think the bottom is in?

2) The launch and airdrop of Solana's first dog coin, $BONK. For the first time in awhile, there were good vibes and memes floating around the community. Even Solana Co-founder, Raj Gokal, noticed the change in sentiment and tweeted, "Nothing makes me happier than seeing Solana users having fun. And boy are they having fun right now".

Bonk Inu airdropped 50% of its token supply to the Solana community. Here's how the allocation went:

  • 20% to SOL NFT collections

  • 15% to early Open Book traders

  • 10% to SOL artists/collectors

  • 5% to SOL developers

Azuki#6918

Something that we will continue to see talked about as NFTs grow beyond PFP utility, is the topic of web3 IPs. The discussion popped up again after a Twitter user tweeted Metaka Wars was using their Azuki IP without consent. Thankfully though, it all got cleared up. And fast.

TLDR of Metaka Wars thread

  • Metaka Wars had a collab already in production with the previous holder of Azuki#6918

  • They weren't aware when the Azuki holder sold Azuki#6918 on OpenSea

  • Metka Wars will always protect the rights of copyright owners

  • Solution: airdrop 10 Metaka Wars to the new Azuki#6918 holder and work with them to negotiate the purchase of the NFT

The new holder of Azuki#6918 (TrungTranNft) seems happy with how Metaka Wars handled things 😎

Just another day in web3. What are your thoughts on the situation?

There is a Bitcoin- themed bar in NYC

An Ex- Fidelity executive opened a Bitcoin- themed bar in NYC. The crazy part? They don't accept cryptocurrency. Who would've thought at a Bitcoin- themed bar, the only payment method is cash?

At the end of 2022, Thomas Pacchia opened PubKey bar in Manhattan's Greenwich Village. And brought on chef Greg Proechel, who previously worked at the acclaimed three- star Michelin restaurant, Eleven Madison Park.

PubKey was intended to be a place where both the Bitcoin community and non-crypto native customers could come together to enjoy some delicious FOOD. Thomas Pacchia notes, "It's been a rough year for a lot of people. The opening of this cultural hub is one of the more positive things in the industry right now".

What's on the menu? Burgers, hot dogs, wings, fried mozzarella, and more all American food options. If you like American food and are in NYC, you'll definitely want to check this bar out 😋
