Former POTUS mints out during the bear market, wen porsche?, Crypto hits the world agenda

GM Baos,

Today we cover:

  • NFT for the rev heads kicks off

  • Crypto hits the agenda of the G20

Make NFTS great again says former POTUS

Would you believe it if I told you the above over the top dramatic Jpeg featuring the former president Trump in a mixture of weird and wonderful back drops just sold for 15 ETH ($18k at the time of writing).

The entire collection of 45,000 which was priced at $99 each minted out in half a day, raising a whopping $4.5m in the bear market. At the time of writing, the collection has continue to do another 5.5k ETH in secondary sales which would have added another half a million to the coffers.

Each digital collectible provides ownership to a "rare piece of Donald Trump's history" and enters the holder into a prize draw, including chance to meet the former President himself.

The art, if you can call it that, has however been questioned by twitter who has closely analysed the similarities to stock images and cowboy suits off Amazon...

An NFT journey for the rev heads

Porsche today announced on twitter its mint mechanism for its upcoming NFT collection. Featuring a 4 wave allowlist mint on January 23rd, followed by a public mint of the remaining NFTs.

The NFT collection itself features a 7,500 NFT collection of the prestigious Porsche 911. With each NFT, the holder can select a path down Performance, Heritage or Lifestyle in an individual journey for their very own 911. Each choice can result in a variation of one in over 150,000 to bring about rarity and unique designs.

Luxury brands have been making moves into web3 over 2022 but this is an interesting move from automotive heavy weight looking to combine a historical brand with digital innovation.

The vision seems exciting and really if the art looks anything like the cars then we'll be in for a treat. Read more here.

So wen porsche?

G20 countries seek consensus on crypto 🌏

Earlier in the week, the G20 nations met in India to discuss many global affairs which included the current state of crypto. Collective the cohort acknowledged the implications and impact that crypto has over global policies around monetary and economics.

Though the conversations are early, it has set the tone for crypto to be a focus area for the coming years. The tone and discourse evidently is harsh and critical of the current landscape given recent debarcles (*cough FTX cough* with the President of Germany's financial regulator describing the industry as "a playground for grown ups".

At the sound of regulation or red tape many mixed responses usually arise from the crowd. Will regulation curb enthusiasm and diminish the ability for web3 to mature? Or by contrast will it lay down guard rails on this highway meandering along the cliff face?
