Logan Paul is suing Coffeezilla for defamation

Over the years Logan Paul has found himself in quite the controversies. However, after becoming the worlds most hated man, he took the opportunity to turn his life around. Everyone now knows him for Pokémon cards unboxing, the podcast Impaulsive, his boxing fights, oh... and NFTs.

A recent series, which Coffeezilla says was a year in the making, investigates Logan Paul's blockchain game CryptoZoo. But what is CryptoZoo? It's an NFT game where you buy eggs using $ZOO and breed animals together to make hybrids. You were supposed to be able to earn passive income in the form of $ZOO.

He told Forbes his inspiration was Pokémon, "I've been wanting to combine Squirtle and Charizard and fight my "Squirt-izard' or my 'Char-tle' forever... so what's the next best thing that's probably even more relatable and universal than Pokémon? Animals on the blockchain".

A TLDR of Coffeezilla's series:

  • The NFTs were poorly photoshopped stock photos from Adobe. Not the artwork Logan Paul has described in videos

  • All 6 people he talked to lost thousands in CryptoZoo

  • He mentioned Logan Paul's previous ties to Dink Doink

  • A source said Cryptozoo engineers were never paid

I watched Logan Paul's response video so you don't have to...

  • The employee he spoke to "Z", lied about Cryptozoo having 30 employees and a $50k a week burn rate. Wouldn't Coffeezilla know his credible source had an agenda and a criminal past?

  • Debunked the claim eggs couldn't be hatched 🥚

  • Says Coffeezilla illegally recorded the conversation with manager Jeff and posted online

  • Him and Jeff made/sold nothing (which he says we can verify through the blockchain). They both only lost money trying to save it after the Cryptozoo developers, with criminal pasts took everything

  • The first time Coffeezilla reached out to him personally, was Christmas Eve, the day after the video was released

"I'll see you in court".

Unverified NFTs were sold on Magic Eden

13 fake NFTs across 5 collections were sold on Magic Eden. The cause? A UI issue due to a new feature deployment released to their Snappy Marketplace and Pro Trade tools. The bug allowed unverified NFTs to be listed with other collections.

Magic Eden's solution was to disable Snappy Marketplace and Pro Trade, to stop the spread and, "eliminate entry points where unverified NFTs could be shown". Users were instructed to refresh their browsers, but even if you didn't refresh, the ability to buy unverified NFTs was disabled.

Magic Eden's solution ⬇️

  • They added an extra verification step

  • A full refund ($SOL) to affected users

2023 is off to a rocky start for Magic Eden.

Just a couple days before the fake NFT exploit, their image provider was hacked. And the marketplace was filled with pictures of porn for some NFTs 😬 ... also random stills from the CBS show the Big Bang Theory.

Shopify merchants can now sell AVAX NFTs

I remember the good ol' days of Google searching "how do you create an NFT?" and "where do you buy NFTs?" — but still being confused. Today, it's never been easier to experiment with the blockchain 👀

Shopify just announced they are partnering with Avalanche to let merchants mint and sell NFTs with no coding experience. And customers won't need an Avalanche wallet or any cryptocurrency to buy the NFTs. This makes the whole process seamless for both parties.

"Our growing blockchain ecosystem demonstrates our commitment to supporting merchants as they sell NFTs directly through their storefronts, helping to further grow participation in web3 and expand what's possible in commerce" — Christina Lomozzo, Shopify's Blockchain Lead.
