Let's move to Thailand & join some Blockchain loyalty programs? 🔥

BMW using blockchain technology, DeGods bridge to ETH, and OpenSea's ban on Cuban artists

GM Baos,

It's the last day of the year Baos. Make it count!

No doubt this year has been rough, but web3 has never been more bullish 🫡

Today we cover:

  • BMW's blockchain loyalty program (Thailand)

  • DeGods bridge to ETH

  • OpenSea ban on Cuban artists 🇨🇺

BMW x BNB

Blockchain loyalty programs are the future 👀

It's amazing to see everyone from a coffee chain (Starbucks) to a luxury car brand (BMW) incorporate the blockchain for their loyalty programs. These are some BIG names...

On Thursday, BMW announced they're partnering with Coinweb to build a customer loyalty program and will use BNB Chain for settling transactions. They are rolling out the program exclusively to Thailand first.

What we know so far...

  • The blockchain will be used for daily operations ex. to eliminate paperwork

  • Rewards points will be earned in the BMW ecosystem. Whether thats from buying a car or just getting a service. Then the points can be spent also be spent on things within the ecosystem

"Customers will be rewarded with loyalty points and they will be able to spend within the ecosystem. Our hope is that there will be a future global rollout but currently our partnership is for Thailand" — Coinweb CEO, Toby Gilbert

The only people who hate on blockchain technology are the ones who don't understand it. This BMW announcement is the kind of news that make me excited to be in the web3 space.

DeGods bridge to ETH

Just as you think about how it's the holiday season and news has been relatively slow, it's revealed on Christmas Day that DeGods are moving to ETH and y00ts to Polygon — Merry Christmas 🎅

They are hoping to complete the migration by Q1 2023. Frank said on Twitter Spaces it’s to keep their desired growth rate, saying “If Ethereum is where we have to go to keep growing, it’s what we have to do”.

Interestingly, Polygon is paying for the y00ts migration with a grant from their partnership fund.

From what I saw, most people were split. This is the largest NFT bridge we’ve seen. It’s too soon to tell if the move will be a success or absolute disaster.

Some reactions from Twitter:

OpenSea bans Cuban artists

More than 30 artists have been banned on OpenSea as a result of United States sanctions in Cuba. Other sanctioned countries include: Syria, Iran, and Venezuela.

However, this isn't the first time Cuban artists have had issues with OpenSea. NFTcuba.ART has tweeted before about OpenSea shutting down Cuban profiles without an explanation.

The good news is that now we have many NFT marketplaces to choose from and support, like Blur (who are more decentralized). What are your thoughts?
