Google Cloud is a Solana validator?!

Not one but three huge announcements in the past day hitting web3.

GM Baobis,

As this newsletter hits your mailbox I may be on a plane to my vacay already. If you're dreading your Mondays, here's your friendly reminder to catch your breath, pause and reset.

Anyways, here are the bull signals we're covering today to kick off your web3 week:

  • Google Cloud did what now?

  • Enter the Curryverse

  • OpenSea implements a safe harbour

Google Cloud drops a bombshell ft. Solana + Coinbase

Earlier today Google dropped not one but THREE huge announcements about their Cloud Computing arm.

Google Cloud signed up as a Solana validator to partcipate and validate blocks on the network.

THEN, from 2023, Google will also begin providing an easy-to-use blockchain node hosting service on the Solana network.

Their focus is to develop a secure environment, provide constant monitoring and managed services to ensure a well-oiled infrastructure. A private preview is now available.

Lastly, they also announced that Google's Cloud customers can now settle the bill via crypto payments. This will be enabled by their partnership with Coinbase, in exchange for computing power and data analytic capabilities. Coinbase will facilitate the cryptocurrency payments and offer up crypto technology into Google's BigQuery.

Wow.

NBA superstar Stephen Curry splashes a 3-pointer in web3

Top athletes are no strangers to inking multi-million contracts and beginning huge ventures during or after their sporting careers complete.

Steph Curry is another high-performing athlete to enter the web3 fold. The NBA future hall of famer recently registered "Curryverse" as a trademark which will include:

  • personal and virtual appearances by Curry himself

  • online games involving NFTs

  • NFTs which can be traded or exchanged on a market place

Maybe more and more normies will experience web3 in ways such as this.

dO sOmeTHinG OpenSea

OpenSea takes to twitter to call out their preventative measures and safeguards to protect users of their platform.

Their approach is two fold:

  • Detect and remove malicious links

  • Theft detection and disablement

To be on the front foot against scams is definitely within their interest and addresses the following three things:

  1. Reduces resources dedicated to resolving, supporting and dealing with scam cases

  2. Improve the safety, experience and retention of newcomers to the ecosystem

  3. Reshape the narrative across web3 around distrust and misbehaviour

Do you think these new systems will be effective?
