CZ is swooping in to save us from FTX 😆

CZ to the rescue, Coffee+Kicks+Blockchain, Reliving your childhood through NFTs

GM Baos

Hope you had wonderful weekend celebrating Baogiving. The team at FFC and the Dumpling are grateful for YOU, our reader this year.

Today we cover:

  • Crypto King sets aside another $1 billion

  • Coffee, kicks and blockchain?

  • NFT-ing your childhood

CZ commits a further $1billion for Binance's Crypto Recovery Fund

Over the weekend Binance's CEO Changpeng "CZ" allocated a further $1 biillion for its industry recovery fund doubling the pool of funding overnight.

"If that's not enough we can allocate more" states CZ as he looks to use the fund to bankroll distressed crypto assets and companies. The intention of the funding is to rescue high potential and viable crypto projects which may currently be floundering due to the lack of liquidity.

CZ's move rallies a batallion of white knights to contain and give confidence through the post-FTX contagion which continues to unravel. The likes of Polygon Ventures and Aptos Labs have come to the table offering funding.

Binance to the rescue!

Coffee, kicks and blockchain

You may be waking up this morning with the Dumpling in your left hand and a Costa Coffee in your right. I wouldn't blame you if you asked "what's a coffee got to do with footwear AND blockchain?"...I asked the same question.

On National Espresso Day, Costa Coffee announced a partnership with footwear brand Artisan Lab to release a set of 20 handmade sneakers. Each sneaker is dyed in Costa's "Mocha Italian Blend" and minted on the Hedera blockchain.

The immutable nature of the blockchain continues to be an attractive use case for brands looking to cash in on the NFT and blockchain craze. It's appealed to companies like Artisan lab, who are all about building luxury bespoke goods in limited releases.

Through their digital partner Designbook, they are now able to add a dimension to their artisanal goods and harness the blockchain to provide authenticity.

Maybe we'll soon start seeing all certifications and stamps of authenticity utilising the blockchain..?

Mattel drops its NFT marketplace

Before yours truly got into 90s Japanese cars, and well before even having a drivers licence, 7 year old me sat at the top of a long corridor outside Grade 2 . Smoothly paved, with a decent steep, this corridor was the race track for many Hot Wheels races.

Fast forward to 2022 and generations of children will continue to grow up with Hot Wheels and Barbies, but now...it's on the blockchain. Earlier this week Mattel, the company behind both iconic toy brands launched it's own digital collectibles marketplace on Flow.

Their hope is to capture the next generation with their intellectual property but safe guard their community by creating a platform to prevent scams, fraudsters and speculators. Building out their own platform will mean they can safely release all their franchises and brand collaborations into digital art with their full control.

How else can we be building out blockchain applications for the next generation?
